Services
Upon enrolling at Scituate High School, each student is assigned a school counselor who works with the student and family throughout high school. Students also have access to the School Adjustment Counselors. School adjustment counselors provide services to students and families with more acute social, emotional, and behavioral needs upon referral.
Counselors routinely partner with students, caregivers, faculty, and administrators. Our work helps students identify and implement strategies to address obstacles impacting academic performance, social/emotional development as well as assisting with post-graduate planning.
School counselors provide services to students and caregivers through direct and indirect services.
- Direct services include the delivery of school counseling curriculum, individual student planning, and responsive services, such as individual and small group counseling and crisis intervention.
- Indirect services include referrals to outside agencies or resources and consultation and collaboration with staff and administration.
In addition, school counselors chair Section 504 Plans for students in their caseloads and are active Student Support Team (SST) members. The SST team creates, implements, and monitors timely intervention and support plans for struggling students.
Scituate Public Schools provides counseling services to all students and does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, gender identity, homelessness, national origin, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation.
